Architect:Atelier Jean Nouvel

Project start: 2004

Part of the Danish Radio new settlement this spectacular 1800 seats concert hall is built around an irregular shaped suspended concrete core. It is covered by a 3200 tons complex steel structure, with 12 steel trusses expanding up to 47 metres supporting an acoustic roof. The main concert hall, plus three smaller auditoriums and the lobby are encircled by a large apparent Vierendeel steel structure stiffened by pre-stressed diagonals and clad in translucent blue. This enclosure acts as monumental magic lantern, giving a strong identity to this generous landmark.
