The new headquarters of the Co-operative Group will be located close to its current complex in Manchester, and will add a striking new landmark to the city’s skyline. In addition the building sets a new benchmark for achieving a balance of sustainability, operational efficiency and space flexibility.
The 15-storey building houses a café in the atrium, a panoramic restaurant in the 8th floor, a 320 person auditorium at lower ground level as well as an office area of about 30.000 m2 with more than 3000 employees.
The façade is designed as twin skin façade. The project scope included the entire static calculation regarding the steel structure of this façade as well as a heat transfer and condensation calculations for the twin skin facade.
